About the team

The Grant Thornton Restructuring Advisory team provides empathetic and tailored assistance to clients facing economic challenges, during what can be an emotional, overwhelming, and rapidly evolving situation. Our restructuring and insolvency specialists work with leaders to implement proactive measures, with a view to turn the business around and retain the most value for all stakeholders.

About the role

We’re looking for a Manager to be part of our market-leading Melbourne team.

You will play a key advisory role in our team and look after a broad range of corporate restructuring and insolvency engagements for a diverse spectrum of clients across different industries. You will manage relationships and collaborate with external stakeholders (such as business owners, investors, lenders and solicitors) and lead on innovative and commercial solutions to help our clients navigate and recover from adverse circumstances.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage your own portfolio of restructuring and insolvency matters, including managing all aspects of formal and informal insolvency engagements with support from other team members as appropriate
  • Manage the trading of various businesses, including preparation and oversight of cash flow forecasts, calculating employee entitlements and overseeing supplier / customer accounts
  • Lead complex investigations, including source and application of funds, forensic tracing exercises, voidable transactions and insolvent trading reviews
  • Prepare and review creditor reports, statutory reports and independent business reviews, and undertake and oversee detailed financial analysis
  • Participate in business development activities, including assisting Partners in preparing and pitching for new engagements, as well as being involved in presentations, marketing and events
  • Encouraged to build your own internal and external networks, with support as required
  • Lead and / or assist in practice management such as internal training, recruitment and WIP / debtor management
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and training opportunities to develop the skills of other team members

Skills and experience

Required

  • University degree in a related discipline, such as Business / Commerce, Accounting or Finance and / or relevant professional or overseas qualification(s)
  • Strong accounting background with extensive experience in corporate insolvency / restructuring
  • Experience in the conduct of business and financial forecast reviews for financiers or other stakeholders
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience providing coaching and training to other team members
  • Strong personal brand and level of engagement with professional networks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a willingness to learn and work as part of a collaborative team
  • Strong computer literacy, including use of Microsoft Excel

Desirable

  • CA / CPA or other relevant professional accreditation(s)
  • ARITA and / or TMA certification would be advantageous
