About this role

Grant Thornton Australia is looking for a Senior Associate / Manager, Data Analytics to join our Financial Advisory team in Sydney.

As part of a newly-formed team within our Financial Advisory practice, you will bring together your advisory and consulting skills, as well as your technical know-how, to perform data analysis which will provide meaningful and actionable insights and recommendations for the firm’s clients. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the strategic vision for the team and build relationships with stakeholders throughout the wider firm.

This role suits an intellectually curious individual with a ‘data-centric’ mindset: someone with strong critical thinking skills, who understands the power of asking the right questions, and can tailor their message to resonate with different audiences.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into data analysis tasks
  • Work closely with stakeholders to identify data sources, gather relevant information, and perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to uncover patterns, trends, and anomalies
  • Develop and maintain data models, dashboards, and reports using tools such as Power Query, Power BI, Alteryx, SQL, or Python
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on data findings

Skills and experience

  • Significant experience as a Data Analyst, preferably in a consulting or professional services environment
  • Strong interest in working with data-related principles
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams, including interpreting requirements and adapting your communication style to technical and non-technical stakeholders

If you are interested in this role but don’t feel that you match every single one of our requirements, we would still love to hear from you and explore the unique skillset and attributes that you can bring to the team.
