About the role

As a Senior Associate in our Melbourne Restructuring Advisory team you will have the opportunity to work flexibly on a range of national corporate insolvency and restructuring engagements, which are both interesting and challenging. Working in conjunction with a variety of external stakeholders including business owners, investors and lenders from mid-sized business and large corporates, this role will utilise your skills in formal insolvency matters, financial analysis, informal advisory engagements and stakeholder management across a range of industries.

Working closely with the firm’s partners and senior management team, who are industry leaders within their field, key areas of involvement will include:

  • Carriage of your own matters, with support from senior team members
  • Direct liaison and management of stakeholders including creditors, employees and business owners
  • Preparation of creditor reports, statutory reports and independent business reviews, and performing detailed financial analysis
  • Assisting senior team members with the trading and management of businesses, including preparation of cash flow forecasts, calculating employee entitlements, realisation of assets and overseeing supplier/customer accounts
  • Assisting senior team members with complex investigations, including voidable transactions and insolvent trading reviews
  • Assisting in the leadership and development of junior team members both on files and generally in their career
  • Building your network both internally and externally and getting involved in business development opportunities

Skills and experience

You will be agile, responsive and intuitive. This role will suit someone with the following skills, experience and attributes: 

  • A minimum 2 years’ experience within an insolvency and/or restructuring team
  • Be currently completing CA/CPA or already completed
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong excel skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent client relationship skills
  • A willingness to learn and work as part of our collaborative team
  • You understand your personal brand and enjoy networking
